10-1 Fridays

April 28th – June 2nd  Dates pending and to be confirmed

Artist and teacher Rachel Murphy has recently moved to Helensville. We are fortunate to have her skills and knowledge, specifically in the area of slip casting and gilding at the Art Centre Helensville. Rachel will be taking regular courses with us, the first starting in April.

Learn the art of slip casting with full time Ceramist and Artist Rachel Murphy. Rachel has 20 years experience and holds a Bachelor of Design. She has work in prominent galleries throughout NZ.

Slip casting is the process of using plaster molds and slip (liquid clay), to make ceramics that are beautiful and can last many lifetimes.

In this class you will learn the basics of slip casting, create a form out of clay and then make single & 2 part moulds. Then create functional domestic ware and sculptural pieces in porcelain.
