We Read Auckland ‘Speakeasy’

Our upcoming exhibition for We Read Auckland in collaboration with the Helensville Library, will be holding an ‘open mic’ night. Artists, poets, writers and script readers are invited to come and ‘share their word’.
 
Exhibition dates are 29th July – 23rd August displaying a vast range of ‘text in art’ using a variety of medias and visual methods.
 
Come to our ‘Speakeasy’ opening event Friday 8th August 5-7pm and celebrate this unique show with us!

Helensville Show Art Competition

This year’s Helensville show is exhibiting a wide range of media’s for all age groups.
Prizes for each category include:

Adult – Oil painting, acrylic and watercolor
Youth – Ages 10 and under drawing and painting
Ages 11-16 drawing and painting
Adult and Youth Photography

Arts in the Ville 2024

Join us for this years Arts in the Ville which runs over Labor weekend. We will be opened extended hours, Saturday to Monday 10-4 for the event.

We have lots on in addition to the tour around artists studios, this year we have a youth art competition for ages 14-18years, a total prize pool of $1000 thanks to a generous sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous .

Entry form attached below for conditions and details. Artwork entered will be exhibited at the Art Centre over Labor weekend.

ART COMP ENTRY FORM 2024

Events for Arts in the Ville is Jeffrey Thomson’s ‘Treasure Hunt’ with a fantastic prize of a Jeff Thomson Kete.

Jeff is also running ‘Kaipara Cup’, a paper boat race down the Kaipara River. The Art Centre is running two workshops, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 1-3 to make paper boats with Jeff! This is free all materials provided.

Family Fun Day!!!

Grand Opening!!!!
 
We are pleased to announce a Rodney district board led initiative of a ‘Family Fun Day’ on the 20th of October 1-3pm. This is to mark to end of 2 years’ construction affecting the Art Centre and our neighbors. We are grateful to council for putting this event together, there will be free sausage sizzle and ice-cream, face painting, bouncy castles and the Art Centre will be running free arts and craft activities on the day. This is family friendly and we warmly welcome all to come and celebrate with us.
The main event will be held in the War Memorial Hall, the Art Centre will be open running Crafty Badges with Kiri Abraham, free workshop 1-3 and Paper Boats with Jeffrey Thomson, make your own paper boat in prep for Arts in the Ville. Jeff is doing a paper boat race down Kaipara River for Arts in the Ville, boats made in this workshop can be included in the race!
