From our artistic community Art Kaipara was originally formed in 2004. Art Kaipara was always looking for venues to hold exhibitions and hold workshops for its members.
It became apparent that a permanent venue would be a great asset to the community where all sorts of programmes could be run. In 2008 Art Kaipara, with Rodney Council assistance, sought the commercial building on Karaka St (known as ‘The Old Bakery’)which had been its premises until 2015 when the then known as Art Centre Helensville moved to its present location at the Basement of the War Memorial Hall.
The Art Centre Helensville is a project run by Art Kaipara and is open to the whole community without a membership requirement. The Art Kaipara Board employs a Manager to run its Art Centre premises and programmes.
Our purpose is to provide the community with a place to explore their creative and artistic talents. We encourage people of all ages and cultures not to be afraid of ‘giving it a go’ and we provide affordable workshops and classes to encourage learning.
We provide a space where existing and emerging artists can display and exhibit their work. We aim to provide a variety of workshops, classes, and seminars for people to explore different artistic mediums at affordable prices. We encourage artists to share their experiences and knowledge with the community. We aim to provide a meeting place where people can learn, collaborate and share their passion of visual arts.
