Grand Opening Invitation

The board of Art Kaipara, the governing body of the Art Centre Helensville, would like to invite you to join us to share in the celebrations of this new milestone in the journey of  our community art centre in Helensville on Friday, 23rd October from 6-8pm.

We now have a new, bright, spacious, clean and dry art space in the basement of the War Memorial Hall in Helensville in which to hold exhibitions and education workshops.

Mayor Len Brown will be in attendance to officially open the space and we will share some delicious nibbles, wine and good times with artists, friends and members of the local community.

The opening exhibition will show work from artists who have supported the art centre over the course of it’s development, with wall works adhering to a 12″ x 12″ format.

Please RSVP by email by 20 October for catering and Mayoral requirements and include your name please.

The art centre will be open from 10 to 4 over Labour weekend to celebrate Arts in the ville, Helensville’s  3 day  arts festival showcasing the amazing talent in our area. The streets and venues all over town will be full of colour and creativity.

“Arts in the Ville” will include a collection of Open studios, exhibitions and live interactive displays covering wood, paint, metal, thread and clay
Collect a map from points throughout the town and “follow the thread to feel inspired”.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday night and over Labour Weekend.

The River and Other Stuff – August 2015

naughty knickers

Noeleen ‘Naughty Knickers’ were created in a ‘Panting Workshop’ organised after Tash Keefe forgot to proof read her exhibition poster and found that she was exhibiting her ‘panting’ skills. Noeleen has put some of her knickers onto canvas for the exhibition,
The River and other stuff. Noeleen Healey’s Exhibition of Art Works celebrate the artists 85th year of living and loving!

“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary” said Pablo Picasso and since 1996 Noeleen has been keeping a visual diary of her feelings for Helensville’s. Awaroa river.

After working long hours for six years to complete her Masters’ degree, Noeleen was told by her tutor “You can forget everything you ever learnt now. Just paint from the heart”.
Noeleen won’t let her reaction to that statement be put into print, but paint from the heart she certainly does. Every day she produces a series of small drawings, many of which she will do enlarged versions of in time for her exhibition, which will be the last in the Art Centre’s current Karaka Street location prior to it’s move into the basement of the Helensville War Memorial Hall. Noeleen’s exhibition runs from August 1st to the 30th, being open 11am-3pm Saturdays and during Arts & Activities sessions for Differently Abled adults Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2pm until 4.30pm.
